At the Leader Mill (TLM), we believe that a valuable trait in a man is the heart of a warrior. We believe that men who are called to Leadership are intended to be protectors of what is good against that which is evil and destructive. Although underrepresented in recent years, we believe that Scripture teaches an accompanying description of the “gentle and loving” Jesus as the Lamb of God with a fierce warrior of justice which is described as The Lion of Judah.
To be clear, at TLM we believe that War is terrible and that the pursuit of peace is noble and should not be easily abandoned. Further, we believe that every nation should be hesitant in placing their citizens in harms way as the preferred method for prosecuting their grievances. However, we simultaneously believe in the Just War Theory, and believe that the Warrior Spirit is God-ordained even though it, like all virtues, can become corrupted and misused.
TLM Cadets will be trained in appropriate Warrior disciplines which can be expressed in many venues apart from a military conflict. Cadets will learn how to properly assess dangerous environments and how to handle themselves in various scenarios. They will be trained in holding a proper respect for firearms and weapons, and will be given many opportunities to discharge weapons within safe and supervised Mentor encounters. Some Cadets will experience hunting adventures that can include the respectful and legal killing of game such as deer.
TLM is looking for Mentors who have extensive experience with the Warrior ethos, including veterans of armed forces. They will possess superior personal discipline and exhibit acute attention to safety while keeping themselves in a state of readiness for dangerous situations. They will also prefer to de-escalate contentious situations where possible, but reserve the right to respond to provocations in a decisive manner where forced.
If you identify with this mission and have the heart of teacher, we would like to talk to you about your involvement in TLM mentoring. All Leadership Mentors will work in units with no fewer than 3 members. They will share in rotation the responsibilities of accountability with the Cadets and take turns in initiating in their outreach and follow-up with the Cadets’ progress.
